Professional Experience

Gwen has an office in the town centre of Brampton, Cumbria. She began her Virtual Assistant business, Curlew Secretarial Solutions in February 2014.

Gwen has over twenty-two years of experience in the secretarial and PA sector. Five of those years were spent working as an Audio Typist and Receptionist at a busy inner-city doctor’s surgery, and she then went on to spend many years working as a Personal Assistant at an Occupational Health Company, dealing with all the aspects of a busy office as well as running the Managing Directors diary, planning events, seminars and conferences. Gwen also works with a variety of churches, organisations and charities to support them with the admin side of their work.

The business has grown fast and now consists of Gwen and a team of associates, offering a wide range of services from everyday secretarial work to web design.

In 2015 Gwen won Best  Newcomer in the UK VA Awards and then went on to win the Outstanding VA UK Award in 2018 and is now a Judge on the UK VA Awards.

In 2016, she collaborated with another VA to start the Borderlands VA Network, a supportive network to help virtual assistants in Cumbria and along the Scottish/English Border to start and grow their businesses.

Gwen says, “I am truly passionate about being a VA, I have always enjoyed working in the administrative sector and having built a successful business around that has been so very rewarding.”
