VA Conference and Awards – Under new Management – Released: 1st September 2013

Storm Media and Publishing Ltd have announced that they have reached agreement to purchase the ownership and Intellectual Property rights to the National VA Conference and Awards from Carmen MacDougall
(http://vact.co.uk/carmen-macdougall) and The Virtual Assistant Coaching and Training Co (http://vact.co.uk).

Carmen initiated the VA Conference in the UK and with her team very successfully organised and run the event and the National VA Awards since 2007.

With an ever increasing workload, Carmen approached BeMyVA.com, a primary sponsor of the conference and awards in recent years to take on the role of organising the event with Carmen continuing to act as a consultant to proceedings.

John Palmer, CEO of Storm Media, says “We are delighted to have been invited to take over the organising this popular and established event, and we are particularly keen to continue to support the development of standards and professionalism of the VA industry.

The conference has always been a great opportunity for Virtual Assistants to meet and network with other VAs, sometimes it is the only time that the VAs meet in person. During our time of sponsoring the event and awards, we have also been introduced to a great number of people who are considering a life as a Virtual assistant or have just started as a VA – they always say that they have found great value in what they can learn in this environment and we plan to build on that success with the future events.

We also see the Awards as an important benchmark for excellence in the industry. In turn this provides the winners and finalists with great opportunities to gain PR on a local, national and potentially international level. Going forward the PR activities will be reaching out through all of our operations, including pa-assist.com, and our directory BeMyVA.com which already works closely with an increasing number of prominent VA and professional organisations around the world.

We have some very exciting and innovative new plans for the format of the awards – and we will be releasing those details as soon as we can.

I would also like to thank Carmen MacDougall for all of her valuable input and work on behalf of the UK VA industry to date, especially during some very demanding times. I am pleased to say that Carmen will still have an input, working with us as a consultant to the National Annual Conference and the new Awards projects, keeping the experience of running the UK’s National VA Conference and Awards for more than 6 years with us will be such a bonus and strong foundation to build upon.

All in all, we see many new and exciting times ahead for the Virtual Assistant industry!”
